Spider veins, that is telangiectasia – offer
Vascular changes in the area of skin and legs underskin tissue, that is so called spider veins (in other words telangiectasia) are usually considered unattractive aesthetically. In most cases those minor changes do not hurt and do not cause other ailments. Telangiectasia cannot be ignored. It is worth remembering, that broadened vessels can be not only a cosmetic defect, but also may be a sign of dangerous changes in the vascular system.
Methods of telangiectasia removal:
Sclerotherapy is the most popular method of minimally invasive treatment. It involves injecting an agent causing vessel wall fibrosis and compression of lumen, into the veins. The procedure is practically painless and requires no anaesthesia, it lasts about 20-30 minutes. In case of single spider veins, one sclerotherapy procedure is enough. A presence of greater number of varices leads to a number of procedures.
Laser ”spider veins” removal involves directing the laser beam at the broadened blood vessel and tightening it. One benefit of this method is short procedure time and little pain involved. The procedure is performed on an out-patient basis. Before the laser exposure, a doctor performs the Doppler examination in order to evaluate the ventricle capacity in exits of saphenous veins.
Reticular varices are broadenings of inefficient superficial veins, most often minor ones, and their important characteristics is their great number. In such cases it is treated by obliteration, which involves injecting special agents to the faulty veins. Before scheduling the procedure a specialistic consultation is necessary in order to assess the problem and propose the best method of treatment for the given patient. The procedure is not performed on pregnant and breastfeeding women or people with cancer.
Additionally we also use compression therapy, involving using anti-varices stockings, which must be worn by the patient for a couple of days. Well-fitting stockings can be bought at our Clinic.
